Propane and Natural Gas Investigations (1-hour of General CE)
Objectives: To give the attendees knowledge of the common signatures of gas fire and explosion. To
describe what natural gas, propane and odorants are and where they come
from. To explain qualifications for investigators and procedures they need
to follow.
Basic Introduction to Vehicle Accident Reconstruction (2-hours of General CE)
Objectives: To gain an
understanding of what the different types of evidence are that need to be
documented at an accident scene and basic measurement principles. To
understand the types and required photographs needed to perform accident
reconstruction. To learn the basic accident analysis principles – ie.
Momentum, energy, Newton’s Laws of Motion. To inform attendees of accident
reconstruction computer simulation programs now available.
Vehicle Damage Analysis and Insurance Fraud (1-hour of General CE)
Objectives: To educate insurance industry
representatives in analyzing vehicle damage and fraud. At the completion of
this course, the participant should:

when to call in a Professional Engineer or Investigator to analyze, record
and document the necessary facts to support or deny a claim.
Fire Science/Cause Investigations (1-hour of General CE)
Objectives: To educate
Insurance industry representatives in the overall process of fire cause
determination. The discussion will include basic fire science, methods for
determining fire origin and information on explosions.
Engineering Law and Ethics Pertaining to Insurance Claims (1-hour of General CE)
Objectives: To enable
participants to recognize collusion, dishonest, unscrupulous and unethical
practices and vigorously resist and discourse such practices, whether
indulged in by professionals or laymen.
Product Failure Analysis Standards Related to Subrogation - pending
Objectives: By attending
this course, participants will learn to recognize and evaluate: (1)
substandard product test reports, (2) unqualified “experts” and (3) junk
science. The presentation will introduce industry standards applicable to
testing products that may or will be involved in litigation. Court
decisions that apply to experts who may be required to testify regarding
such product testing will be introduced, as well as a discussion of court
decision factors that apply to experts. This presentation is offered so
that participants may properly select experts for potential subrogation
related to product testing.
